Description

The different types of material that foam rollers are made from can cause much confusion, so here is a quick insight into the differences.

There are various types of foam roller materials on the market, and this item is made from EVA – Ethylene Vinyl Acetate: EVA is an excellent shock absorbent material, very light weight, long lasting and hard wearing. This type of material is more expensive than EPP and PE, but is ideal for gyms and clinics where there is continued and long term use. It has a very slight ‘sponge’ feel to it which is ideal for people who do not want a hard/firm foam roller.

PE – Polyethylene: When purchasing a PE foam roller it is advisable to purchase a ‘one piece’ construction foam roller. This is due to the fact that it will retain its shape for a much longer period than a 2pc construction. It is easy to tell the difference by simply looking at the end of the foam roller. If it has an ‘inner circle’ – so it looks like a foam roller within an outer part – it is made from a 2pc construction. 2pc dual-layer construction foam rollers are softer in nature and are suitable for beginners who have never used foam rollers for sports massage before.  Some models of our foam rollers are made from a one piece molded construction and is of a harder consistency.

EPP – Expanded Polypropylene.  This is a new type of foam roller material on the market which looks like it is made from tightly molded polystyrene balls and has a smooth surface. They have a VERY FIRM consistency and have been designed for moderate to heavy use. They are ideal for people who require a very firm foam roller, and would be suitable in gyms and clinics.

  1. Andrew

Nice and dense, especially nice for loosening up before a workout. Definitely not painful as some hard tube foam rollers can be

  2. Anna KT

A really nice foam roller! The density is just right to work out tougher knots in the lower back and shoulders, and upgrade from the softest roller but still away from those other painful rods. I really appreciate the different textures to work out different muscle pains.

  3. Jack Stauton

Needed this to roll my back and hip during a period of travel. 45cm was great for traveling. Roller maintains firmness though i have been using it daily for weeks.

I have a hard time finding a massage therapist that can dig deep enough into my muscles to relieve my hip and shoulder pain. My wife walks on my back and sometimes even jumps up and down on me to help relieve my pain. This thing is just the right firmness and its easy to control the pressure with my own body weight. If you are creative you can even reach a lot of the spots that are awkward for hands and feet such as your hips, tailbone and between your shoulders. Mine is 90cm , this thing is truly worth the asking price.

Shipping was fast. Tis large foam roller is simple but effective. I use it every day, sometimes twice a day. It’s pretty durable and holds up to some abuse. I think for the price, it can’t be beat. I have the shorter trigger point foam roller and this one is a little bit larger in diameter and it’s definitely not a painful, which I prefer. I’m 205 pounds and this roller doesn’t show any signs of wear. I will probably get the shorter one eventually for traveling.
